Yorkshire Dales Race Series

Details (e.g., entry forms and results) of running races (e.g., 10K, 10M and half marathon), both road races and multi-terrain, near North East England: Northumberland, Tyne and Wear, County Durham, Yorkshire, Cumbria, ... Generated: Thu 29 Aug at 14:25:54 BST

Six races in North Yorkshire

During April to July, six separate races are held in towns and villages of North Yorkshire. In 2013, the dates for the races are as follows:

Sun April 28th 2013 Fountains 10K
Sun May 19th 2013 Ripon 10M
Sun May 26th 2013 Melmerby 10K
Sat June 1st 2013 Kirkby Malzeard 10K
Sun July 7th 2013 Burn Valley Run (half marathon)
Sun July 14th 2013 Burton Leonard 10K
Although the Rainton 10K has formed part of the Yorkshire Dales Race Series in previous years, this will not be the case in 2013.

You will be able to enter one or more of these races by getting an entry form (from the organisers of the race) and sending it off in the usual way. In previous years, some of the races insisted that you entered in advance, i.e., entry on the day was not allowed.

When the entry form for a race has been released, you will find a link to the entry form at www.northeastraces.com (by clicking on any of the above links). They will also be available from www.yorkshiredalesraceseries.co.uk/2.html.

A separate competition: the Yorkshire Dales Race Series

On March 20th 2013, it was announced that this Series will not take place in 2013 because there was insufficent interest.

If you are thinking of entering at least four of these races, you may also wish to enter a separate competition called the "Yorkshire Dales Race Series" (YDRS). This series of races used to be called the "Black Sheep Brewery Race Series". Official information about the YDRS is at www.yorkshiredalesraceseries.co.uk

Entry into the YDRS is 10 pounds. Here is a link to the page that contains the entry form for the YDRS.

That web site says:

  • "You have to complete 3 of the 4 10K races plus either the 10 mile or the 1/2 marathon."
  • "The Race Series will operate on a points system - we will add your best three 10K points to your long race points to give you an overall points total for the Series."

Other information about the Yorkshire Dales Race Series is given at www.yorkshiredalesraceseries.co.uk

Just to repeat what is said above: if you choose to enter the Yorkshire Dales Race Series (which costs 10 pounds), you will also, separately, have to enter each race and pay the fee for each race. The closing date for entry into each race will be whatever is given on the race's entry form. In previous years, some of the races insisted that you entered in advance, i.e., entry on the day was not allowed.
